Policies/Requirements
Promptness
- We do believe in promptness at Alexia Robinson Studio. If you are going to be late, we recommend you come to class the next week.
- We do offer make up classes also.
- If you are arriving late due to an audition or leaving a set, please text your instructor and come anyway and enter quietly.
- If you are always on time and have an emergency situation, then please text your instructor and come to class anyway and enter quietly.
Getting your scene assignment
- Our members are responsible for asking the instructor for a new scene when they complete the rework from their previous scene.
Rehearsals
- 2 skype rehearsals per week
- 60 – 90 minutes -Kids
- 2 – 3 hrs – Teens
- 4 – 8 hrs – Adults
- A face to face rehearsal is definitely better.
- However, Face to face rehearsals would need to be at the discretion of each individual member and or parents.
Fines
Not rehearsing with your partner
- We enforce a $25 fine for not rehearsing with your partner.
- This is only enforced if the member is not returning emails, text messages or calls.
We are on a mission at Alexia Robinson Studio to be the best we can be. In order for that to happen, rehearsals are a must.
- If our members don’t want to rehearse, they eventually work themselves out of the studio.
We never want that to happen, but we must always protect the members who are fully invested in their craft and understand the necessity and importance of rehearsing.
Standing your partner up
- We enforce a $100 fine if you stand your partner up on the day/night of class.
- This is only enforced if a member ‘does not’ inform their partner ‘prior’ to the time their scene was expected to go up in that particular class.
- Informing your partner ‘prior’ to class shows courtesy and allows your partner time to refocus and put up a monologue or even get another scene partner if time permits.
Payments
- Payments are due ‘no later’ than the first class of each month.
- A late fee of $25 will be added after the first class if payment has not been received.
- If payment has not been made prior to the second class, that member will not be permitted to attend class unless prior payment arrangements have been made.
- ARS accepts Cash, Cashier’s Checks or Money Orders.
- ARS has a ‘No Check’ policy
2 skype rehearsals per week (60 – 90 minutes -Kids, 2 – 3 hrs – Teens, 4 – 8 hrs – Adults). A face to face is definitely better. Face to face rehearsals would need to be at the discretion of each individual member and or parents.
We require all ‘active’ members to have a subscription at smartactors.com for each month you are active.
members using smartactors.com in addition to training in the ARS classes.
Yes. If you feel you will be late, please text your instructor. If you are coming from an audition or on set, that is waived so just text your instructor and enter the classroom quietly.
Method
Her technique has been proven dramatically with over 50% of her students who are celebrities and working actors.
Her technique pulls from the great teaching traditions of coaches before her like Uta Hagen, Stella Adler and her mentor Roy London, who taught
Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone, Geena Davis, Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Goldblum and more.
The best way to see her teaching method is to come in for a free audit. Just click on the free audit button on our home page.
She wants to teach you how to use who you are … all sides of you … in your work as an actor.
Prompt and Prepared
Just text your instructor and then quietly enter class in between scenes.
Class Placement
You can provide us with your resume or ask us to research your credits online. We offer Introductory classes which has all levels. In this class you learn
the Alexia Robinson Technique (ART) and foundational principles.
This way, when you move into the Advanced or Master level, we can move
ahead full speed.
Rehearsals
The rehearsals are via skype or in person for the adult members.
- 1 hour per week for kids ages 5 to 8
- 1 hour 30 minutes per week for kids ages 9 to 12
- 2 to 3 hours per week for Teens
- 4 to 8 hours per week for Adults.
Rehearsals can be done via Skype. Face to face rehearsals can be done at the discretion of each member and or parent.
You can fire your partner if they don’t respond to your text messages, emails and phone calls. Just get another partner.
People get nervous about the other person getting mad. Alexia tells her students to stop caring about people liking you and do what is needed to make sure that you get your training in. If that person is not thinking about you and your education, then no need to concern yourself regarding that other person getting mad at you. Let me say this again, ‘Fire Them!’
We do enforce a $25 fine for not rehearsing with your partner if you ‘don’t call your partner’ to let them know that you will not be able to rehearse because something else came up.
We also enforce a $100 fine if you stand your partner up on the day/night of class. Yikes! Not fun, but it works.
Directing is telling another actor how to do or say their lines. The other actor may be directing you innocently. However, this can be annoying and frustrating for the person who is being directed. This happens in every acting class. So, it is extremely important to bring this to the attention of your instructor immediately. They will give you tools to deal with this type of situation. Saying nothing will hurt the person being directed. It slows down the growth process. Someone else is basically letting you know how things should go versus you finding your own way and allowing the instructor to ‘guide’ you.

Please understand that is not a bad thing. It gives you an extra week to refine your
scene work more deeply. There is always room for the actor to grow. Each time you
work on your piece, you will make new discoveries. Stay curious and keep digging.
We focus on script analysis, technique, creating the character and rehearsals.

The instructor will most likely ask you to do a monologue for your first class. Once the instructor decides to place you on scene work. The instructor will assign you a scene partner. Once you work the scene twice and you know you are moving to a new scene, it will be your responsibility to check in with the instructor to get your new scene partner.

Scenes
Just send your scene selection to the instructor for approval. The instructor will let you know if he or she feels the scene will stretch you or not. If so, the instructor will send an email to both you and your partner letting you know which character you will play.
If the scene is not approved, the instructor will generally assist in helping you find another scene or make further specific suggestions.
We recommend that you pull the scene on the same day/night of class and send to your instructor immediately for approval. If you cannot find the right scene in our library or in the other listed scene resources, you may require instructor assistance to pull the scene for you. If that happens, please allow 24 to 48 hours for your instructor to send a scene to you.
- Go to www.AlexiaRobinsonStudio.com
- Click on Free Actor Resources — Scene Library
- Click on your desired category. Example: Teens, Drama, Female/Female and the scene choices will pop up.
- We are constantly adding new scenes. However, if you do not see the scenes you want, please use the other scene resources located at the top right corner of the ARS Scene Library page.
- Once you select your new scene choice, please send to your instructor via email for approval.
- If you’ve searched for a scene, using the ARS Scene Library and the other resources listed on the Scene Library page, please contact your instructor immediately for assistance.
- If your instructor is contacted to help with your scene assignment, please allow a 24 – 48 hour business day return for your new scene.
- So, the sooner you can search for your new scene, the better.
Happy Hunting!
Additionally, please have a monologue prepared at all times. This way, you can still put up work if you would like to.

- If you choose to put up a monologue, please prepare a 1 minute monologue – comedy or drama that you connect with.
- You can pull your monologue online (Type in Free monologues for Adults or Free Monologues for Teens or Free monologues for Kids) or write it.
- Once you select a monologue, please send to your instructor at least 24 hours prior to class.
